CORECHEM and Kilfrost Join Forces to Revolutionize Geothermal Heat Pump Technology

In a move set to shake up the geothermal heat pump industry, CORECHEM has partnered with Kilfrost to obtain licensing to their patented  innovative heat transfer fluid technology. This collaboration promises to combine CORECHEM’s established presence in the market with Kilfrost’s cutting-edge formula, creating a powerful synergy that will benefit both companies and their customers.

CORECHEM’s proprietary blend (not PG) of heat transfer fluid, originally marketed as Kilfrost Geo–now COREFROST™ ALV–has been a game-changer in the industry since its introduction. The key advantage of this fluid lies in its remarkably low viscosity at extremely cold temperatures. This property is crucial for geothermal systems, as it significantly reduces the pumping power required to circulate the fluid through the system.

How COREFROST™ Improves Geothermal System Efficiency

To understand how the COREFROST™ fluid works, imagine trying to push syrup through a straw compared to water. The thicker syrup (higher viscosity) requires more effort to move, while water flows easily. COREFROST™ behaves more like water even at very low temperatures, where other fluids may become “syrupy.” The turbulent flow, as opposed to laminar flow, ensures that all of the molecules are picking up the heat as it travels, which makes a significant difference in the usable heat transfer medium. This means less energy is needed to transfer heat, resulting in more efficient and cost-effective geothermal systems.

The benefits of COREFROST™ technology extend beyond just low viscosity. The fluid is also environmentally safe and food-safe, having been certified for use in the United States. This makes it an attractive option for projects where environmental concerns are paramount.

There are many exciting aspects to this development. “Bringing proven technology from the United Kingdom and Europe, COREFROST™ delivers significant value to the HVAC industry in performance, energy savings, and potential capital cost reduction.” said Wesley Sherrod, CEO of CORECHEM.

CORECHEM’s rights to this formula will benefit the industry immensely and play a significant role in its growing notoriety in the industry. By incorporating Kilfrost’s technology into their product line, CORECHEM can now offer a heat transfer fluid that outperforms traditional propylene and ethylene glycol-based fluids in cold-temperature applications. This expanded portfolio will allow CORECHEM to better serve its clients across various industries, particularly in geothermal and other low-temperature applications.

Established Abroad, New at Home: COREFROST™ Arrives in America

I had the opportunity to speak with Chloe Pool, Marketing Manager for CORECHEM Inc., and she had much to say about the exciting developments. She stressed the importance of Kilfrost’s positive reputation and reliability internationally; “COREFROST™ is different because it isn’t new. Its formula and technology are established. It is new to the American market, but internationally, it’s been proven.”

The timing of the introduction of this product is particularly fortuitous. As the world increasingly turns to sustainable energy solutions, the demand for efficient geothermal systems is on the rise. Additionally, the endorsement of geothermal from the current administration puts the industry in a uniquely advantageous position for such exciting changes. CORECHEM is now well-positioned to meet this growing demand with a product that offers tangible benefits in terms of energy efficiency and environmental safety.

CORECHEM’s partnership with Kilfrost represents a significant step forward for the company and the industry as a whole. By combining CORECHEM’s market presence and distribution capabilities with Kilfrost’s innovative formula, we can expect to see more efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly geothermal systems in the future. This move not only strengthens CORECHEM’s position in the market but also contributes to the broader goal of sustainable energy solutions.
