Company Introduces Three New Models

Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions is delivering more backup power with the introduction of its 13kW, 18kW and 22kW PowerProtect™ standby generators.

Briggs & Stratton’s air-cooled standby generators, which are engineered and assembled in the U.S., can run on natural gas or liquid propane. The PowerProtect line has NG Max technology so it offers more power output on natural gas compared to other generators in its class.

Briggs & Stratton standby generators are powered by the company’s trusted and proven commercial-grade Vanguard® engine that’s built to run continuously for days on end in the toughest environments. Another unique feature is the Eco-Cise™ smart weekly test mode that significantly reduces noise and fuel consumption, shrinking the weekly generator test from 5-20 minutes down to just 16 seconds.

PowerProtect generators are designed to work seamlessly with Briggs & Stratton Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS). The ATS senses when utility power goes out and within seconds switches the business or home to generator power.

PowerProtect owners can add a Symphony Choice Kit to their system. Symphony technology is the power management system that automatically balances the electrical loads, and users can prioritize up to eight high-wattage items.

The PowerProtect generator line has a standard six-year warranty that covers parts, labor and technician travel, meaning there aren’t hidden fees. For those who purchase a unit through a Briggs & Stratton dealer, a 10-year warranty is available.

PowerProtect 13kW Standby Generator

At 28.5″ x 25.5″ x 37.6,” this new upright unit boasts an ultra-compact footprint and is ideal for tight lot lines. In fact, the 13kW has a 39% smaller footprint compared to competitive models. A front exhaust design allows for ultimate installation versatility. The 13kW delivers 13 running kW on liquid propane and 11.5 kW on natural gas. The 37 kVA motor starting power is 12% greater than the competition in the same power class. That means more available power to start up large appliances and equipment like an air conditioner.

PowerProtect 18kW Standby Generator

The 18kW generator measures 46.5″ x 26.8″ x 28.4″ and delivers 18 kW on liquid propane and natural gas. The 45 kVA motor starting power is 10% greater than the competition in the same power class and handles large items with ease. The 18kW is designed for emergency and non-emergency use. The non-emergency certification allows users to participate in their local utility’s demand response program and receive statement credits or other incentives for helping to reduce the overall load on the power grid.

PowerProtect 22kW Standby Generator

The 22kW generator measures 46.5″ x 26.8″ x 28.4″ and delivers a full 22 kW on both liquid propane and natural gas. The 22kW model comes with 45 kVA of motor starting power to ensure a smooth startup of large items like air conditioners. The 22kW is designed for emergency and non-emergency use. The non-emergency certification means users can enroll in their local utility’s demand response program and receive statement credits or other incentives for helping to reduce the overall load on the power grid.

PowerProtect 26kW Standby Generator

The 26kW generator measures 46.5″ x 26.8″ x 28.4″ and delivers over 26 kW on liquid propane and 24 kW on natural gas. The 26kW model comes with 65.6kVA of motor starting power to ensure a smooth startup of large appliances like air conditioners. In addition, it is non-emergency certified, meaning users can partner with their local utility’s demand response program and receive statement credits or other incentives for helping to reduce the overall load on the power grid.

The new 13kW, 18kW and 22kW PowerProtect generators replace the company’s 12kW, 17kW and 20kW units and build on Briggs & Stratton’s 115 years of experience in power application.

The Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions portfolio includes a complete line of backup energy products, including Energy Storage Systems (ESS) and standby generators.

Watts has introduced the Series 843H plate strainer which comes standard with Watts’ exclusive ArmorTek™ advanced coating system.

With an 8-year Microbiologically Induced Corrosion (MIC) warranty, this advanced patent pending coating technology provides three layers of protection to create an effective barrier, dramatically increasing resistance to corrosion.

Frist, ArmorTek features an anti-corrosion primer containing an electrochemical corrosion inhibitor, which significantly slows the spread of corrosion if the metal substrate becomes exposed due to wear or impact.

Second, it incorporates a microbial inhibitor to curb the growth of bacteria that causes MIC, further slowing the spread of corrosion and limiting the formation of tubercles that can clog or foul downstream equipment.  A robust topcoat is specially designed to bond to the primer below, providing a high-strength barrier between the iron substrate and water.

Designed to use one-third the electricity of traditional residential electric water heaters, new product ensures dependable, efficient hot-water delivery.

Noritz America, a leader in tankless water heaters and high-efficiency combination boilers, recently previewed its new, ENERGY STAR-certified Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater for residential domestic hot water applications.

Making its debut in Chicago at the 2024 AHR Expo in January, this newest addition to the Noritz offering consumes up to one-third of the electricity required by a standard residential electric water heater with a resistive element, yet maintains the same level of hot-water delivery. The “hybrid” designation denotes the inclusion of dual 4.5-kilowatt electric elements positioned at the top and bottom of the tank to provide backup water heating or accelerate recovery times when necessary.

Noritz America Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater, heat pumps, electrification, plumbing, HVAC, heating and cooling, water heatingSet for an official launch on July 1, the new Hybrid Electric Heat Pump unit efficiently transfers heat from air to water, resulting in substantial energy savings for consumers seeking to reduce their utility bills. The Hybrid Electric Heat Pump is eligible for government rebates of up to $3,000, the kind of incentive that has made heat pump installations so attractive for both contractors and homeowners.

Handling hot water temperatures ranging from 50°F to 160°F, the product will be available in four sizes, with the model numbers here indicating the gallon storage volumes: (NHP50, NHP65, NHP80, and NHP120). The 120-gallon model, still a rarity in today’s market, is available by special order. UEF (Uniform Energy Factor) ratings range up to 3.48, highlighting its energy efficiency when compared to similar products in the market.

“At Noritz, our dedication to providing our customers with diverse water heating solutions drives our innovation,” explains Jason Fleming, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Noritz America. “The introduction of the Hybrid Electric Heat Pump not only addresses recent market and regulatory shifts nationwide, but also offers a product designed to save energy, lower maintenance and operating expenses for customers, and streamline installations and servicing for contractors.”

Key Features

  • Cement lining: The specially formulated cement lining of the unit’s storage tank is designed to prevent the corrosive effects of hot water. By negating the need for a sacrificial anode rod, the lining all but eliminates maintenance requirements and the necessity for regular checks. (Neglecting to replace the anode rod can lead to premature tank failure in a conventional electric water heater.)
  • Five operating modes: The Hybrid Electric Heat Pump offers users five different ways to operate the unit, depending upon user demand and current conditions: hybrid (standard), electric only, heat pump only, super (for high-demand situations), and vacation.
  • First Hour Rating: The Hybrid Electric Heat Pump Water Heater’s first hour ratings are 58 gallons (NHP50), 70 gallons (NHP65), 86 gallons (NHP80), and 105 (NHP120).
  • High-pressure rating: The unit has a pressure rating of 150 pounds per square inch (psi) WP and 300 psi TP. A temperature and pressure relief valve comes with the unit, pre-installed.
  • Warranties: The cement-lined tank and all parts are covered by ten years of protection, plus a one-year warranty on reasonable labor.
  • Approvals include AHRI, UL1995, CSA 22.2 No. 236, Low Lead.

Mueller Steam is helping facility engineers detect when strainer maintenance is needed to prevent production downtime. New differential pressure monitoring technology now comes standard on our duplex strainers and is optional on our wye strainers.

With the purchase and activation of an add-on connection kit, the pre-installed pressure sensors at the inlet and outlet of the strainer monitor the pressure drop that occurs over time when a strainer screen becomes clogged by foreign particles.

Alerts are triggered via an existing BMS connection or cellular gateway when the strainer basket is 75% full and 100% full.

These sensors do not change the operation of the strainer – they still comply with all the necessary certifications and do not interfere with the normal function of the strainer.

“This is the first smart strainer technology of its kind,” says Jennifer Carlino, Sr. Product Manager at Mueller Steam Specialty. “Facility engineers will now be able to perform strainer maintenance proactively, rather than reactively, which will help protect costly equipment from damage as well as maintain consistent flow and efficient system performance.”
