The ranking is based on survey feedback received by Energage, a research company with 17 years of experience assessing more than 27 million employees at 70,000 organizations. Uponor was also awarded three Culture Excellence awards focusing on Compensation and Benefits, Innovation, and Work-Life Flexibility.

This is the ninth year Uponor has received a ranking in the top 200 or better. It is also the second year in a row the company has achieved the Top Workplaces USA and Culture Excellence recognitions.

“Being named a top workplace by our employees in the state of Minnesota and also the U.S., and having them recognize our unique People First culture that we all work so hard to maintain, is a testament to the strength of our corporate values that drives how we do business every day,” says Uponor North America President Andres Caballero. “Gaining and retaining top talent in the industry and throughout North America is vital to our success. These recognitions highlight the quality work environment Uponor provides and showcases us as an employer of choice.”

In addition to receiving the Top Workplaces awards, Uponor has also been recognized this year with two Minnesota Governor’s Safety Awards, the David Weekley Homes National Preferred Partner Award, and the Plastics Pipe Institute Project of the Year Award in the Building and Construction Division.

The annual Governor’s Safety Awards, which date back to 1934, measure safety performance against national averages in a company’s respective industry. Nominees complete a Safety Program Evaluation Scorecard, which was developed by a team of experienced safety professionals from organizations that are members of the Minnesota Safety Council. The program recognizes three levels of winners: Meritorious Achievement, Outstanding Achievement, and Award of Honor.

The Uponor Lakeville Distribution Center received an Outstanding Achievement Award for the third consecutive year, while the company’s Apple Valley campus earned a second consecutive Meritorious Achievement award. In total, Uponor has now won seven Governor’s Safety Awards since 2014.

“This recognition by the Minnesota Safety Council is a perfect reflection of our team’s commitment to the safety, health, and wellbeing of our colleagues across the organization,” said Andres Caballero, president, Uponor North America. “As a seven-time recipient of this award, our employees make safety their highest priority, never compromising the health of themselves or their colleagues. It is because of this commitment that Uponor continues to be a shining example of what great safety standards look like in the manufacturing space.”

The Minnesota Safety Council was founded in 1928 and is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Minnesota by preventing unintentional injuries on the road, at work, at home, and in the community. To see a list of all award recipients, visit MinnesotaSafetyCouncil.org.

Uponor North America continues to earn recognitions from employee engagement research company, Energage. In addition to being named a 2022 Top Workplaces USA award recipient, ranked the #1 Top Manufacturing Workplaces in Minnesota in 2022; and recognized eight times as a Top Workplace in the State of Minnesota since 2012, Uponor has now been ranked #10 in Energage’s National Manufacturer Top Workplaces list out of 349 similarly sized companies. This is the first time Uponor has earned a top 10 national ranking in this category.

The National Manufacturer Top Workplaces honor is determined through feedback gathered during an annual employee survey. Uponor employees were asked to rate their overall job experience, as well as satisfaction with criteria such as wages, benefits, and company culture.

“Recognitions like this national award reinforce what we already know – Uponor is a great place to work and build a career,” said Andres Caballero, president, Uponor North America. “Industry honors are important, but having our employees’ survey responses name our company as a top national manufacturer is very special. We will continue to do all we can to reinforce our corporate values and lead with a people-first culture.”

Earlier in the year, Uponor was awarded the Top Workplaces Compensation & Benefits Culture award, which celebrates organizations that offer robust, competitive compensation and benefit packages to its employees.

Uponor North America (Uponor) was recently named a 2022 Minnesota Manufacturer of the Year honoree in the Large Company category by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal (MSPBJ). The honor marks the first time Uponor has been named a top manufacturer by the MSPBJ, with a previous honor in their Manufacturing Sustainability category in 2020. This is the fifth year the publication has recognized organizations that are driving Minnesota’s economy, while also growing their companies.

The MSPBJ also selected Jennifer Hauschildt, chief human resources officer, Uponor Group, as an Emerging Leader honoree in the Twin Cities. Her contributions in developing the company’s People First strategic initiative, including the Flexible First working model, was a key driver in this recognition.

As part of the Manufacturer of the Year – Large Company honor, the MSPBJ recognized Jon Sillerud, vice president, Operations, Uponor North America, for his leadership during the pandemic and ability to pivot production capabilities during global supply chain challenges. Sillerud has overseen double-digit growth at Uponor, doubled production staff in the past six years, and was responsible for overseeing the company’s 12th and 13th expansions in North America since 1990. In 2021 alone, Uponor broke ground on more than 83,000 square feet of expanded production space at its Hutchinson and Lakeville, Minn., facilities.

“To have our leaders and company recognized as a Minnesota Manufacturer of the Year is a humbling honor. The manufacturing landscape across Minnesota yields so much incredible global innovation, and to know we are recognized as one of the top companies in the state is a direct reflection of the contribution of our employees here at Uponor,” noted John Reutter, interim president and vice president, Finance, Uponor North America.

The MSPBJ will be featuring Uponor, along with all of its honorees, in a July article. For details about all the honorees, refer to this MSPBJ announcement.
