Rinnai America Corporation, the number one selling brand of tankless water heaters in North America, calls on the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to revise its proposed efficiency standards for tankless water heaters. In its current form, the draft rule will unreasonably restrict consumer access to certain tankless water heater products, disproportionately impacting middle-income households and small businesses.

The draft rule would raise standards for tankless gas-fired water heaters to over 91 percent efficiency, while leaving the standards for tank gas-fired water heaters relatively untouched at 70 percent efficiency. While tankless water heaters are the more environmentally friendly option, achieving 91 percent efficiency with non-condensing technology is technologically impossible.

“As currently drafted, DOE’s proposed rule will create an uneven market that effectively bans an already energy efficient product and puts American jobs at risk,” said Frank Windsor, president of Rinnai America Corporation. “Consumers who rely on access to tankless water heaters will see their options limited, resulting in higher energy bills and shorter appliance lifespans, while the very environmental goals prompting this rule will go unfulfilled. We urge DOE to re-consider this untenable rule for standards that better protect American consumers and drive our energy efficiency goals forward.”

Members of the public who wish to submit a comment on the draft rule to DOE or their representative in Congress rule may do so HERE.

Rinnai and its customers get the best of both worlds because our program allows a number of choices to promote its products and services.”

In addition to branding on racecars, Rinnai becomes the official tankless water heater of Stewart Haas Racing and Tony Stewart Racing. This designation highlights Rinnai’s brand promise of “Creating a healthier way of living®”, a mantra that is at the forefront of all the company’s efforts. By continuing to offer quality products and services to homeowners and organizations, Rinnai is aiding in providing businesses and homes with energy-efficient hot water options for cleaner and healthier living.

The announcement of the partnership comes after a series of milestone events for Rinnai America. “We opened a new manufacturing facility last year in Griffin, Georgia, that has allowed us to combat shipping delays and supply-chain challenges. In this facility, we manufacture our new RE Series™ Tankless Water Heater, the first and only non-condensing unit with a built-in pump. That product, along with our ability to manufacture in the United States, is another reason why we’ve partnered with Tony Stewart and have become the official tankless water heater of Stewart Haas Racing and Tony Stewart Racing,” Windsor said.

Introducing a newly revamped line of easy-to-install, advanced non-condensing tankless water heaters

Rinnai America Corporation, a manufacturer of the number-one selling brand of tankless gas water heaters in North America, launches the RE Series™ Tankless Water Heater, the first and only non-condensing unit with a built-in pump, featuring Smart-Circ™ Intelligent Recirculation™. Rinnai raises the bar with a new line of advanced non-condensing tankless water heaters unlike anything else on the market, delivering a level of installation ease, as well as enhanced serviceability, reliability and usability.

Proudly assembled at Rinnai’s recently opened manufacturing facility in Griffin, Ga., the RE Series is the first Rinnai product manufactured in the U.S., creating jobs, boosting the local economy and breaking new ground in tankless water heating.

“To combat shipping delays and supply chain challenges, it’s important to Rinnai that the new U.S. manufacturing plant provides PROs with the latest in water heating technology promptly,” said Frank Windsor, President, Rinnai America Corporation. “As we all know, time is money, and we want to provide a product that makes our PROs’ jobs faster and easier.”

The newly designed RE Series makes tankless water heaters even smarter to install with the addition of:

  • A new clean internal layout with a wiring harness and fewer fasteners to make it easy to see and access different components.
  • A new safety handle and seating bracket for the heat exchanger and combustion system to protect different components.
  • A new LED screen to set maintenance and service reminders, as well as provide error codes and alerts for when a lime scale flush is required.
  • A new sliding wall bracket allows a single installer to handle and slide the unit horizontally to align with venting before securing the unit to the drywall.
  • The new Smart-Circ technology makes installation even easier, as external controllers are no longer needed to ensure customers have hot water when they need it.

The RE Series features Rinnai’s latest innovative Smart-Circ Intelligent Recirculation. This technology learns a user’s hot water usage patterns over seven days, then schedules the built-in pump and times recirculation patterns accordingly. Users enjoy hot water during regular demand periods while saving energy and money. The RE Series is also available with the control•r™ Wi-Fi module, to achieve scheduled recirculation or on-demand operations if that is desired.

It’s never been easier for PROs to sell, install, service and maintain Rinnai non-condensing tankless water heaters. And for the first time, Rinnai now offers PROs both condensing and non-condensing tankless water heaters with a built in pump to deliver faster hot water at the faucet.

Rinnai’s brand promise of Creating a healthier way of living®” is at the forefront of all the company’s efforts. By continuing to offer new and innovative technologies, Rinnai is aiding in providing homes with energy-efficient hot water options for cleaner and healthier living.

The new RSC model will replace RUR models with the same superior quality and latest technology

Rinnai America Corporation, a manufacturer of the number-one selling brand of tankless gas water heaters in North America, launches the new and improved SENSEI™ RSC Condensing Tankless Water Heater, introduced to the North American market in June 2022. Eventually replacing further production of the RUR models, Rinnai’s RSC will deliver the same superior quality, advanced Smart-Circ™ Intelligent Recirculation™ technology and easier installation for PROs.

“With the updated RSC model, we can provide our PROs and customers with a top-of-the-line product that includes the latest technology to improve overall performance,” Frank Windsor, President, Rinnai America Corporation. “We’re not only improving the users’ experience but also making our PROs installation process more efficient and cost-effective.”

Smart-Circ Intelligent Recirculation

The RSC model offers a variety of new benefits to homeowners and PROs, including Rinnai’s latest addition of Smart-Circ Intelligent Recirculation technology. With Smart-Circ, external controllers are no longer required to provide recirculation for customers, making installation a smoother process. Smart-Circ “learns” users’ hot water patterns over seven days, then schedules pump and tankless recirculation patterns accordingly. Hot water usage must be greater than 20 seconds to be added to Smart-Circ’s memory, minimizing any unwanted recirculation.

In addition, the RSC model will have a more efficient multi-speed DC pump, providing improved performance with a higher flow rate, better head pressure and more flexible operation. Upgrades will also be seen in high-temperature climes with the revised low-flow activation logic.

 Easy Installation and Serviceability

The RSC model provides the latest in improved performance technology and efficiency, but it also reduces install time and costs for PROs via the following:

  • Simplified recirculation option eliminates the need for the internal bypass and recirculation plug filters.
  • Flexible venting can be installed in an existing condensing vent system for replacement, and new installs use smaller, lighter less expensive concentric venting, including 2” venting options.
  • Mounting bracket for a versatile design, enabling side-to-side movement for easy vent alignment.
  • Quick gas conversion with an inexpensive conversion kit that requires just three simple steps
  • Convenient isolation valves and PRV assembly, which can rotate 360 degrees to accommodate the installation of isolation valves in any application.
  • Effortless parameter adjustments with an easily accessible control panel

Rinnai’s brand promise of Creating a healthier way of living® is at the forefront of all the company’s efforts. By continuing to provide PROs and their customers with the latest tankless technologies, Rinnai is aiding in providing homes and commercial buildings with energy-efficient hot water options for cleaner and healthier living.
